The word Vermeil is pronounced “ver-may,” which is a French term referring to the high –quality, gold-plated jewellery that features a heavier Gold plating to extend it's wearability in comparison to normal gold-plated product.

- The base metal for Gold Vermeil jewellery is Sterling Silver and is then plated with an 18ct gold plating with a thickness of no less than 2.5microns.
- (The plating thickness on our current gold-plated silver is only 1micron!)
- It cannot be called Gold Vermeil if the plating is not thicker than 2.5 microns!!!!
- All Gold Vermeil jewellery is quality checked and hallmarked with silver hallmarks.

Wearing your Gold Vermeil
- Always remove your jewellery when washing your hands or applying perfume and makeup.
- Never spray perfume on top of jewellery, especially pieces containing pearls.
- Remove jewellery before participating in active activities such as swimming, showering, gymming or wherever your jewellery can get scratched or damaged.
- Avoid exposing your jewellery to harsh chemicals such as ammonia, chlorine and other abrasive cleaning detergents.
- As with any other metal (Gold & Silver), the acidity in your skin can react with the metal that could lead to tarnishing and fading of the gold layer.
- Some customers have higher levels of acid in the skin than others and that could result in the item tarnishing faster.
- Other environmental factors such as air, moisture and humidity also encourage tarnishing.
- Therefore, it is imperative that you care for your all your jewellery – not only your Gold Vermeil jewellery!
